So this dropped...
"...on the narrow edge between civilization and the hungry dark..."
It's The Keep on the Chaos Scar by Craig Spearing, the latest adventure in Dungeon #176! Head on over to the WotC D&D site to check out the whole shebang. Thanks to Jon Schindehette for what was a totally mellow and fun assignment.

Any chance you'll get clearance at some point to post a high-res version of the full image?
I came right here after seeing that map, certain it was your work. It's a beaut!
Thanks Will!
Wpeters: doubt it. It's probably a lane violation just posting that snippet. The published version is kinda small tho', isn't it?
Beautiful as always. Time to go check out the full version...
Yea, hopefully it'll show up in the art gallery at a higher resolution. Congrats!
i thought it was you!
Sweet! Is there any significance to the roof colors - Identifying shops and residences or something along those lines?
You can post it now that it has released - as long as it carries the proper copyright line (©2010 Wizards of the Coast LLC)
It was a honor and a pleasure to work with you on this project, and due to the huge response to your work - I'm hoping that the editorial staff gives me many more projects that enable us to work together more in the future.
Thanks Jon, will do!
I too *thought* I recognized the style immediately... I'm glad the folks at Wizards have seen it and taken heed. Great work. I would love to eventually see a Nentir Vale sourcebook with you as the illustrator/cartographer.
kingworks -- nope, no significance to the colors other than I try to break things up color-wise in order keep it interesting and prevent important buildings from blending into the overall gray-green-brown-scape.
Stephen -- man, that would be a great gig. Who do we talk to about making that happen? Thanks! =)
Very cool. Your map work is so complex yet has a whimsical "simply done" look to it. Love it!!!
Thanks Gene!
It's great to see that player admiration can turn into work from WotC for freelancers!
Congrats on breaking through, Crazyred!
Many thanks friend Colmarr!
Just got my Keep on the Borderlands Encounters Booklet, Love the map, would love to get a bigger copy of it! D&D Doodle is the shit!
Love the map! Which (digital) product should I purchase to get the highest possible quality version (inkeyed, preferably in color)?
